Troglobites, such as the cave crayfish, are fully adapted to the darkness of the cave environment (Palmer 2007).
Troglophiles, such as the cave cricket, have some adaptation to caves but must leave regularly for food (Palmer 2007).
Trogloxenes, such as the Grey Bat, visit caves but are not adapted to underground living (Palmer 2007).
